le tour vers l’océan atlantique

Departure from Messac over Redon to Arzal. (Duration one week)
distance : 208 km
number of sluices : 36
traveltime : 18 Stunden (simple)
departure / ending : Messac
Start- and Baseport is “Messac”. Can you imagine that 1771 potatoes were cultivated here for the first time? Not far of “Messac” lies “Loheac”, where you can visit an automuseum, which is admitted by visitors far over its borders. On the route towards south you drive through the valley of the Villaine – a very romantic place! In “Langon” there is a wonderful garden, “jardin anglais”, the english garden.
You will pass numerous Chateaus and gardens on all routes, this garden however is something special. The next larger city is “Redon”, the city of the flowers, but it naturally gives to discover still more: exclusive restaurants, historical buildings, churches… the route continues directly to the heart of the city. “Redon” explore it best with the bicycle on its numerous cycle tracks.
Here there are many possibilities to buy proviant. At “Foleux” you can put on directly in the heart of the city for an overnight stop: a Candle Light Dinner on your boat – wouldn t that be nice?! You can open the salon roof, a mild summer breeze and over you the clear starlit sky. Have you already lived that feeling ?
A further remarkable point is the bridge of “Pont de Cran”, which can be pulled open for larger ships, so that e.g. sail yachts can pass by- but you can drive through simply.
Afterwards you cross a wonderful valley, which is overspanned at “la Roche Bernard” by an enormous bridge. Exploring the village is pure medieval Flair and originalness.
In “Arzal” the route finally ends fur channel boats.
